Spicy Salmon Sushi Pizza

Spicy Salmon Sushi Pizza

I love the pizza-sushi at a neighborhood restaurant, so I decided to make my own. After much trial and error and questioning my followers on Instagram to help with the crust, I finally landed on the winning recipe – it's so good! Great with sushi-quality salmon or tuna, and you can make the tortilla crust in the air fryer or oven. They are dairy free and gluten free when made with tortillas You are gluten free, but any tortilla will work. Where to buy sushi quality salmon:

I go to my local H Mart to buy salmon sashimi, but any supermarket that has a person making fresh sushi would sell it to you. You can also ask your local fishmonger for sushi-quality salmon.

Ingredients for sushi pizza

  • Tortillas: I used Siete's gluten-free tortilla casava, but you can use any tortilla you like.
  • Avocado: Two ounces of avocado is about half the size of a small avocado.
  • salt for the avocado puree
  • Salmon: Purchase eight ounces of fresh sushi-grade salmon.
  • Spicy mayonnaise: Mayonnaise and sriracha
  • Shallot: Mix half the shallots with the salmon and reserve the other half for garnish.
  • Oil: Use toasted sesame oil for the salmon sauce.
  • I'm Willow: Swap it for tamari or coconut aminos if you're gluten-free.
  • Sesame seeds: Sprinkle the pizza with a teaspoon of white or black sesame seeds.
  • Jalapeno: Thinly slice a jalapeño.

How to make spicy salmon sushi pizza

  • Salmon: Combine the salmon, mayonnaise, sriracha, half the shallots, sesame oil, and soy sauce in a medium bowl.
  • Avocado: Mash the avocado and season it with a pinch of salt.
  • Tortilla crust: To make the tortillas crispy, air fry them or bake them in the oven before topping them with sushi. Fry tortillas one at a time at 400°F for 60 to 90 seconds on each side. I put a rack on top so they don't fly around. To bake them, preheat the oven to 425°F and bake on a baking sheet for five to six minutes, turning halfway through.
  • Sushi Pizza Toppings: Place half the avocado and salmon on each tortilla. Top with jalapeños, remaining scallions and sesame seeds. Season with additional soy sauce, Sriracha or spicy mayo.

How to store sushi pizza

Sushi-quality salmon is best consumed the day it is purchased, and this pizza does not keep in the refrigerator. I recommend that you only prepare as much as you will eat at one time. The recipe is easy to double or triple if you're feeding multiple people.

Variations:

  • Swap salmon for sushi-like tuna.
  • Don't like raw fish? Use cooked salmon instead.
  • Make a crispy rice crust: Press cooked brown rice into a small round air fryer pizza pan and air fry at 400°F for 5 minutes on each side.
  • Spiciness: If you're not a fan of spicy sushi, omit or reduce the amount of sriracha and remove the seeds and ribs from the jalapeño.
  • Replace sesame seeds with furikake seasoning.
