Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 15, 2026
1. Introduction
At StatusDownloader, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our website and services. Our core philosophy is built on anonymity and data minimization.
2. What We Collect and Why
No personal accounts or registration. You do not need to create an account, provide an email address, or share any personal identity details to use StatusDownloader. We do not collect names, phone numbers, or mailing addresses.
URLs you submit. When you paste a link into the tool, that URL is sent to our server so we can look up the media. We do not store these URLs in a database or tie them to your identity. The URL is discarded as soon as the response is delivered to your browser.
Standard server logs. Like almost every web server on the internet, ours automatically records basic access data: the IP address of the request, the browser's user-agent string, the page requested, and the timestamp. We keep these logs for a limited period strictly for security monitoring, abuse prevention, and diagnosing technical errors. We do not sell or share log data with third parties for marketing purposes.
Voluntary contact. If you reach out to us directly (for example, to report a bug), we will only use the information you provide to respond to your message.
3. Media: We Do Not Store Your Files
StatusDownloader works as a temporary bridge between your browser and the social media platform. We look up the direct media link on the platform, forward it to your browser, and the transfer happens. We do not save copies of any videos, photos, audio files, or other content on our servers. Once a request completes, no record of the file exists on our end.
This means there is no database of downloaded content that could be breached, subpoenaed, or accidentally exposed.
4. Cookies and Analytics
Essential cookies. We may set small, functional cookies required for the site to work correctly (for example, to remember UI preferences within a single session). These expire when you close your browser.
Analytics. We may use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns (which pages are popular, which countries visitors come from, etc.). Google Analytics uses its own cookies. The data collected is anonymous and statistical; we cannot identify individual users through it. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising. We may display ads served by Google AdSense or similar networks. These partners may use cookies to show you ads relevant to your interests based on your browsing history across sites. You can review and adjust ad personalization settings through Google's Ad Settings.
You can disable non-essential cookies entirely through your browser settings. Doing so will not prevent you from using our core download features.
5. Third-Party Services
Our tools interact with external platforms including Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and X (Twitter). When you submit a link from one of these platforms, a request is made to that platform's servers. Those platforms have their own privacy policies that govern how they handle requests; we encourage you to review them. We are not responsible for their data practices.
We also rely on cloud infrastructure providers to host our service. These providers may process request data in transit as a normal part of delivering the service, under their own data processing agreements.
6. Private Story Downloader
The Private Story Downloader works differently from our other tools. It uses a client-side method, meaning any decoding of login-related data happens entirely inside your own browser. That information is never transmitted to our servers. We designed it this way intentionally to give you a stronger privacy guarantee when using that particular feature.
7. Data Retention
We do not maintain user profiles, download histories, or databases of submitted URLs. Server logs that are automatically generated are rotated and deleted on a rolling basis. We do not retain any data longer than necessary for the security and operational purposes described above.
8. Children's Privacy
StatusDownloader is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can remove it promptly.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you. Because we collect so little data and do not maintain user accounts, there is typically nothing to access or delete. If you have a specific concern, reach out and we will assist you to the best of our ability.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of the page. Continued use of the site after a change is posted means you accept the updated policy. We recommend checking this page periodically if you use the service regularly.
